PrivCo Responds to Criticisms of Its Tumblr Report By Slinging Twitter Insults at Fred Wilson, Everyone Else [UPDATED]

Yesterday, Crain’s reported on some eye-popping Tumblr numbers from PrivCo, suggesting VCs reaped huge rewards, including a 5,000 percent return of $253 million for Union Square Ventures, $154 million for Spark Capital, and $77 million for Spark partner Bijan Sabet.

Almost immediately, Bijan Sabet and Fred Wilson fired back, calling the report “garbage” and refuting the specifics (without coughing up what they actually made). Dan Primack (who’s tangled with PrivCo before) calls the report “a load of Yahoo.” He says USV and Spark actually put $13 million each into the company ($350,000 of it seed funding) and got around $192 million each. Not too shabby, but not the jackpot PrivCo alleges, either.

Renowned Feminist Chris Brown Deletes His Twitter Account After Fight With Comedian Jenny Johnson

All-around awful person and talented Twitter troll Chris Brown has deleted his Twitter account following an ugly spat with comedian Jenny Johnson. When Ms. Johnson attacked Brown for his misogynistic tweets, the infamous singer responded with a sexually-charged, just-what-you’d-expect-from-Chris-Brown tweet: “Take them teeth out when u Sucking my dick HOE.” Read More

A Richmond, CA police officer has made the mistake of inserting himself into the middle of a bout between Anonymous and Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White.

The hackers and the exec had been sparring over the Stop Online Piracy Act, of all things, after the UFC penned an editorial supporting SOPA. Hackers attacked the UFC’s website and published what they thought was Mr. White’s home address (it wasn’t). The spat continued verbally between @youranonnews and @danawhite on Twitter, where Mr. White referred to the hacker’s actions as “online terrorism.”

The cop, an ultimate fighting superfan, picked the wrong medium to root for his guy. “@danawhite get those hacking fuckers. I’m a cop in the bay area CA. I would go at them with both guns!” Sgt. Mike Rood tweeted last week. Read More
