What are you doing on May 26th? If you answered "binge watching all 15 new episodes of Arrested Development," then you answered correctly.

According to a press release put out by the company, the highly-anticipated 4th season of the gone-too-soon show will hit Netflix at 12:01 a.m. PDT on May 26th. All 15 episodes will go online at once, for your maximum marathoning pleasure.

"Arrested Development is now widely viewed as one of the top TV comedies of all time and Mitch Hurwitz is bringing it to Netflix in a brand new way, crafted for the on-demand generation that has come to discover the show in the years since it last appeared on TV," Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix said in the release.

The best part? May 26th is the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, so you can spend your Memorial Day day drinking, wearing jean short cutoffs and mainlining the entire new season.

When not blogging from a prison cell, antivirus software creator John McAfee is reportedly busy planning the next iteration of his media blitz: The Hollywood Reporter writes that Mr. McAfee has successfully sold his life rights to a TV production company called Impact Future Media.

Mr. McAfee has skillfully played the media these past few months, getting a Wired reporter to speak on his behalf and telling his story to Gizmodo before inviting Vice to join him in his escape from Belize. That decision ended with his capture when a Vice employee published an iPhone photo still containing the metadata that revealed his location. Mr. McAfee still managed to temporarily convince Vice's photographer to lie for him.

Now, Mr. McAfee's story is one step closer to being splashed across televisions everywhere. The film will tentatively be called Running in the Background: The True Story of John McAfee, as a nod to the antivirus software that slows down your mom's desktop.

Mr. McAfee said that he believes Impact Future Media has a "dedication to truth" that most organizations do not these days, despite the fact that the production company has only been around for a handful of weeks. Impact is also producing a show called High on Tuna, which is about a drug dealer and not, unfortunately, about a new state school trend of smoking cat food.

Vice has also said it's developing a documentary about Mr. McAfee. We can only hope at least one film includes a dramatic tampon-up-the-nose disguise scene.

If the sunny, overblown drama of Bravo's Start-Ups: Silicon Valley has left you aching for a bleaker take on Valley culture, then we have some wonderful news for you. Deadline reports that HBO has just greenlit a new pilot called Silicon Valley, produced by cult comedy icon Mike Judge.

The show will be a single-camera affair, offering a dark take on the "high tech gold rush of modern Silicon Valley, where the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success." You know what that means: hoodies!

Mr. Judge has been responsible for such iconic works as Office Space, Idiocracy and--of course--Beavis and Butt-head, so we're confident that he'll be able to supply the Valley with the healthy dose of comedic cynicism it so desperately needs. He'll be directing the project, which is slated to begin filming in the spring. King of the Hill producers John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky are also on board.

But what of the Valley's pristine reputation? Will it be sullied by HBO? Area bloggers who clutched their pearls over Start-Ups believe that because Silicon Valley is labeled as fiction up front, it can't do "actual harm." With Mr. Judge’s take, at least we won’t have to worry our pretty little heads over how to separate fact from fiction.

When last we checked in on creepy technologies that wholly encroach on your sense of personal privacy, Microsoft had registered a patent that would allow the Kinect to detect how many people are in a room and stop playback on a movie if it sensed more people than the copyright allowed. But a new patent filed by Verizon takes that concept a step further by allowing a set-top box to observe what's going on in your house and serve you ads based on what it hears.

According to the patent, the device will detect "an ambient action performed by a user during the presentation of the media content program" and during the commercial break run ads based on whatever action you're performing. The patent provides the helpful example of the Verizon box detecting that people are "cuddling" and serving up "a commercial for a romantic getaway vacation, a commercial for a contraceptive, a commercial for flowers, a commercial including a trailer for an upcoming romantic comedy movie, etc." Because nothing says romance like one of those awkward Trojan Fire and Ice commercials.

Ars Technica points out that Verizon is far from the first cable provider to patent such technologies; in 2008, Comcast patented a technology that would target programming based on how many people are in a room.

If this is the future, we kind of want off the ride.

Michael Brutsch, the 49-year-old Texas resident whom Gawker outed last week as the man behind the racist and misogynistic Reddit troll account Violentacrez, is slated to appear tonight on Anderson Cooper 360.

In sound bites published to CNN's Press Room blog, Mr. Brutsch speaks with CNN's Drew Griffin about his experiences moderating the controversial subreddit Jailbait, where users posted sexualized photos of minors before it was shut down by Reddit last year.

Mr. Brutsch even gives an apology for his actions ... well, almost:

GRIFFIN: Anderson outed you without saying your name a year ago, right? You could have stopped then. Is the only reason you're stopping because we now know who you are?

BRUTSCH: Yes. I mean that is, you know, Violentacrez is what I did in my spare time to unwind from my 10-hour-a-day job. That's how I relaxed in the evening. I no longer need to relax in the evening, because I no longer have a job. That and the fact that the curtain's been pulled back and everyone can see the puppeteer ... That and the fact that I have, as with the rape and pregnant reddits, I have come around over the last few months to understand that some of these things can be harmful to other people.

DREW GRIFFIN:  Are you apologizing for what you did or trying to make an excuse for what you did?

MICHAEL BRUTSCH: Well, I am to some degree apologizing for what I did. Again, I was playing to an audience of college kids. Two years ago, when all of this was at its height, the audience was appreciative and supportive of this sort of gallows humor that I put out there.

GRIFFIN: Did you get a thrill out of that?

BRUTSCH: Well, honestly, the biggest thrill I got was those meaningless internet points.

Reddit users collect "karma" by publishing posts or comments to the site, which other users can then vote up or down. "He really did care about the karma," the Daily Dot's Kevin Morris tweeted at Betabeat. "Used to PM me, complaining that our leaderboards weren't accurate."

Mr. Brutsch announced earlier this week in a post on Reddit that he had an interview with CNN. When other users chimed in asking him to provide details about the interview, he responded that they did not pay him to appear. "They did cover valet parking, so that was $40," he said.

When another user asked how the interview went, he replied, "I don't think it will help anything."

Mr. Brutsch, who was fired from his job following Gawker's exposé, is now soliciting programming work in the porn industry.

Everyone's new favorite medium was used to save the Olympics, as well as reinvigorate the presidential election and now it's going to save TV too! CBS just bought the rights to a show based on the reaction GIF blog and What Should We Call Me clone site, Hollywood Assistants. The GIF has finally arrived.

Hollywood Assistants doesn't really seem as popular as most of its contemporaries. A lot of the site's recent posts have under 10 notes. Compare that to another reaction GIF Tumblr like How Do I Put This Gently, where all of the posts have hundreds upon hundreds of notes.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the blog's creator, Lauren Bachelis, started the site while she was working as an assistant at CAA. She then became an assistant to New Girl creator and executive producer Liz Meriweather, where she continued to post reaction GIFs from TV shows and movies to the moderately popular blog.

Ms. Bachelis took her GIF inspiration and wrote the show which is titled 20-Nothings. It's about five 20-something friends living in Los Angeles trying to make it in Hollywood. Sounds watchable enough, especially because it's going to be directed and executive produced by Wonder Years hero, Fred Savage.

We hope Ms. Bachelis is judicious about posting GIFs of her GIF show on her GIF blog. Wouldn't want anyone to get GIF'cepted.

How about a little propaganda controversy for your Monday morning? A clip from the Disney kids' sitcom Shake It Up is making the rounds on social news sites this morning, with some claiming that the writers of the show are purposefully spreading "fear, uncertainty and doubt" about the integrity of open source code. Scandal, you guys.

"Did you use open source code to save time and the virus was hidden in it?" asks a bespectacled Bill Gates-child clone in the clip. (Computers: only for the argyle-sweater-wearing among us.) "Rookie mistake."

Discrediting the open source community by claiming code taken from it is especially prone to viruses? The Internet will not stand for that.

But why would Disney want kids to think that open source is evil? The hope that they'll grow up believing in patents and copyright and thus not illegally download episodes of Shake It Up seems like a rather tenuous argument.

More than likely, the writers of the show just had no idea what "open source" actually means. It's a buzzword that, when uttered by a nerdy-looking little kid, sounds like believable computer speak. Wouldn't be the first time TV show writers bungled larger academic concepts.

Of course, as The Register points out, "Freetards are, at the time of writing, yet to erupt in protest, but that can't be far off."

Aereo won an important legal victory earlier this week, when a judge declined to issue a preliminary injunction that would've essentially shut the TV-streaming service down until a broadcasters' lawsuit against the company is decided. Not only might the move have smothered the company in its cradle, but the ruling also bodes well for Aereo's ultimate fate in the lawsuit.

Well, now that one existisitential threat has receded, it looks like the swagger is back in the company's step.

Yesterday media mastermind and spry septuagenarian Barry Diller informed Bloomberg TV, “Within a year and a half, certainly by ’13, we’ll be in most major” markets. We like to imagine the line was accompanied by an enormous, satisfied grin.

Nor will Aereo continue hiding its light under a bushel. Mr. Diller also told Bloomberg that, “We’re going to really start marketing." And while it may seem like Aereo is all you ever hear about, despite the occasional splashy party and a demo at New York Tech Meetup, the company hasn't exactly been making the full-court press to consumers.

Looks like even big money and a mob-like grip can't keep one New York startup down. A cluster of broadcast companies filed an injunction against online TV startup Aereo back in May, claiming that its very existence threatened their big, bad business.

Today, U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan threw out the injunction, siding with Aereo's argument that its business would also be harmed if the injunction went through.

According to Reuters, "Nathan concluded that the so-called 'balance of hardships' did not tip 'decidedly' in the broadcasters' favor."

Broadcast companies like News Corp. and NBC have good reason to be nervous about Aereo. Betabeat saw Aereo demo at a New York Tech Meetup a few months back and we were certainly not the only ones floored--the presentation was greeted with hearty applause.

The power the broadcast companies wield will undoubtedly be one of the biggest hurdles Aereo faces as they continue to iterate. Lucky for them, Barry Diller--who has a background in network television working for Fox--is on their side.
