Not all of us can afford luxurious yachts on which to sunbathe and drink Moet and count our jewels, no matter how hard we wish to be Captain Larry Ellison. But a new startup in Athens, Greece wants to help everyone feel like a glamorous seafarer, if only for a day.

Wired reports that next month two Greek businessmen are planning to launch Incrediblue, a boat rental marketplace for yachtmasters and wannabes alike. Rich people can list their boats for curious vacationers hoping to get their fix of the open sea to rent hourly, daily or weekly. Incrediblue plans to charge 15 percent for its services, undercutting most traditional boat brokers (because that is a thing, apparently).

It's basically Airbnb, but for motherfucking yachts.

Writes Wired:

Tourists or others who wish to rent out a boat can choose from Incrediblue’s listings based on type of boat, cost, availability, and user reviews. Once you pick a boat, you send a reservation request to the owner and pay for your voyage once the request gets approved. If you can’t sail a boat or yacht, you can even hire a skipper on the site to do the driving while you sit back and sip cocktails on deck. For now, you can rent a boat in Greece, Croatia, Turkey, and Portugal, but Incrediblue has plans to launch in Spain and France by early next year.

Sadly, once you turn the yacht keys in at the end of your rental, you'll be forced to confront the stark, devastating reality that you are still not Jay-Z.

If you're looking to make some extra cash, Airbnb can be an easy alternative to finding another weird Craigslist roommate or moonlighting as a rich dude's arm candy. But if you're going to go the room rental route, you probably want to make sure that doing so doesn't violate your lease--or else you might just find yourself kicked to the curb (or at least served with a restraining order).

Consider the case of Chris Dannen, a Brooklyn resident who claims to have made upwards of $20,000 in nine months from renting out his two spare bedrooms on Airbnb. According to a missive he penned for Fast Company:

On Monday, June 4, about 10 days before my cofounders and I planned to push our first product into the iTunes App Store, a stranger in a blue blazer served me with a restraining order filed by my landlord.... Attached to the order was a complete printout of my Airbnb listing and all my reviews, included as evidence I had violated clauses in my lease. (Some leases, I have since learned, have evolved specific language prohibiting tenants from listing their pads on vacation-rental sites such as Airbnb.)

We feel badly for Mr. Dannen, but we can't help but wonder how this came as a shock to him. Aren't lease clauses always the catch with Airbnb, and why you should only use it if you own a place, or if your listing is suuuuper stealth?

Let this be a warning to all of you cash-strapped, enterprising Brooklynites with space to spare: read your lease before signing up for Airbnb.

The flossy, flossy.

You know Gilt Groupe is in overdrive mode when even its verticals are diversifying.

Jetsetter, the travel site Gilt Groupe founded in 2009, must have liked the looks of Airbnb's numbers,  since it just launched its own foray into the vacation home  rentals market with Jetsetter Homes. As The Next Web notes, Homes starts off with collection of 200 curated and verified villas in exotic international locales. Since this is Gilt we're talking about,  the pricing is "exclusive," with some options offered in the company's customary flash sale style, depending on availability. Although in the case of these homes, we imagine the scarcity is more than just manufactured.

The booking site, which comes with international inventory, benefits from Jetsetter's emphasis on luxe photography,  "including our revolutionary 360-degree tours which transport the user into palatial homes and fabulous infinity pools around the world," says Jetsetter founder and CEO Drew Patterson.

Hopefully, Mr. Patterson learned from Airbnb's mistake and invested in some hefty anti-vandalism insurance. I mean, have you ever tried getting graffiti off an infinity pool?
