Just in case "Laguna Beach" didn't GO THERE enough to satisfy you, Hollywood producer Peter Chernin has created a reality show that you can follow through the Twitter, Instagram and Vine accounts of nine teens.

That's 27 accounts. Seems excessive, but when we were teens, 27 official platforms dedicated to "Laguna" or "The O.C." would have induced tears of joy.

The show is called "Summer Break," or @SummerBreak, and it follows nine SoCal teens in their last summer before college, according to the Wall Street Journal. It's the first programming to be distributed through Mr. Chernin's Chernin Group, and the producer "is betting it is the future of the entertainment industry," WSJ says.

A bunch of creepy adults will be coaxing content from the teens and pumping them for more and more social media. From WSJ:

"In addition to being asked to tweet his or her daily activities as frequently as possible, each 'Summer Break' participant has an application from Dropbox Inc. on his or her phone that lets producers see every photo they take and video they record.

"'If you're at a party and you take 50 photos you wouldn't Instagram until the next day, we're going to post them for you,' said Lauren Dubinsky, a social-media consultant who is helping with the show, speaking about the participants. 'And if you tweet you're at a party, we send a text asking, "Where are the pictures?"'

The nine subjects were picked based on two criteria: hotness ("kids who are attractive on camera," as WSJ diplomatically put it) and social media activity. The format of the show is perfect for the A.D.D. set, with a 60-second episode posted on @SummerBreak's Tumblr each day, as well as a three-to-five-minute weekly wrapup, according to WSJ.

Fans can also follow the nine cast members in real time on Twitter, Instagram and Vine.

"This is on a level so much further than anything anybody has ever done," Mr. Chernin, apparently channeling Kanye West, told WSJ of the project.

The entire eight-week season is super low-budget for a series, costing less than $5 million -- much of which was paid for by sponsor AT&T. Most of the budget goes toward marketing, WSJ reports.

Cast members have unbearably trendy millennial names like Trevis, Lena and Zaq, and the show's Tumblr is full of GIFs and photos that look straight from an Urban Outfitters catalog. If today's young people can make sense of the all-over-the-place format, @SummerBreak could be as big a cultural phenom as "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" were. After all, Mr. Chernin is responsible for successful network TV sitcom "New Girl," among other shows and movies.

There's just one question: are you Team Trevis or Team Zaq?

The moment you've all been waiting for is briskly approaching. Though the much-maligned Start-Ups: Silicon Valley reality show doesn't premiere until Monday November 5th at 10 p.m., Bravo has begun publishing clips to its website in order to sate our boundless curiosity.
In the clip, Mr. McClure has taken time out of his busy schedule to go through the pitch deck of brother-sister duo Ben and Hermione Way for their "health and lifestyle startup" called Ignite.
"It was slightly disrespectful, him going through the whole thing and making his own judgments," he tells the camera in a cut-away confessional. As AllThingsD notes, that is, of course, why Mr. McClure was even looking at the deck in the first place. We can't believe he spends his off-time browsing through poorly-designed PowerPoints just for fun.

Mr. Way, it seems, is definitely not here to make friends.

Entrepreneurs bring on advisors in the early stage of a startup, because those advisors either help strategically or open doors that otherwise would have been closed to the entrepreneur. In this case, you won't see me ON camera and I'm not shooting, directing or editing the show. Similarly, you wouldn't see an advisor running operations or coding the site for a startup. The show has long been in development with very little input from anyone in Silicon Valley.
Good luck, Ms. Zuckerberg, though you likely won't need that. As the viewing public knows, reality TV has always been focused on humanizing and capturing the spirits of its subjects, like the haunted Ghost Hunter or soulful Dance Mom.

By signing on, I hope to bring a lot of value by advising on how to best capture the spirit of technology and entrepreneurship throughout production.

Good luck, Ms. Zuckerberg, though you likely won't need that. As the viewing public knows, reality TV has always been focused on humanizing and capturing the spirits of its subjects, like the haunted Ghost Hunter or soulful Dance Mom.

Do you write about beauty products? Do you write about them...on The Internet? Do you do it...in a blog? Well, then, like Occupy Wall Street kids and club kids and the Furries before them, we gather that Beauty Bloggers are next on the list. And how can we tell?

Because this MTV development exec is casting on Twitter, but of course:

Just remember, the Blogger Reality Show has been attempted and failed enough times over the last six years to the point where any development exec with enough brain cells to render them capable of breathing in and out of their nose is totally inexcusable for even proposing it. So now, one supposes, we're seeing the next trend in Blogger Reality Show casting: the specialized blogger.

The point, here, is that they should not make television shows about bloggers unless they are wildly invigorated with the help of uninterrupted flights of fancy and fiction, because otherwise those shows would be boring, because bloggers lives are boring. But hey, it's MTV's money. And if they're smart enough to bring Beavis & Butthead back, maybe it'll work.
