We were delighted to learn yesterday that it's possible to purchase a magic spell on eBay that will merge your soul with that of a dragon. However, in the process of researching the Very Important subject of paranormal goods on the ecommerce site, we reached out to an eBay representative regarding the legality of listing these items.

The results, dear readers, were devastating. According to an eBay rep, the following categories will be discontinued beginning in just a few short weeks:

Everything Else: Metaphysical: Psychic, Paranormal > Readings
Everything Else: Metaphysical: Psychic, Paranormal > Spells, Potions
Everything Else: Metaphysical: Tarot Readings

"The last date to list items in these eliminated categories will be Aug. 30," wrote the rep. "Sellers will need to remove any listings in these categories by the time the policy is enacted during the first week of September."

The categories will be removed from the list of allowed items because "buyers and sellers have told us that transactions in these categories often result in issues that can be difficult to resolve." We imagine that it could be difficult to judge whether or not a genie really has inhabited your body.

Of course, as one in-the-know commenter pointed out in our post yesterday, "All this means is that the more savvy magic users will bundle a tangible item with a 'free' (wink wink) spell or reading to get around the restrictions." Those sly magicians!
