Facebook chief executive officer Sheryl Sandberg is often thought of as the grown-up around the social media giant, attending to such mundane details as growing revenue and selling the company's IPO to investors, allowing Mark Zuckerberg to maintain his pose as the company's hacker-in-chief.

Well, now we can add one more duty to Ms. Sandberg's list of adult responsibilities: managing Zuck's philanthropic giving. According to Fast Company, emails released last month show that Ms. Sandberg played a major role coordinating Mr. Zuckerberg's $100 million donation to the support Newark, N.J.'s public school system.

In the emails, the planning team talks candidly about trying to make the donation look participatory, getting big names and big round numbers involved, and making sure the billionaires look "modest" and feel "special."

The emails, which can be read in their entirety here, speak to the degree to which Ms. Sandberg took control of managing the process of completing Mr. Zuckerberg's generous donation. In an email to Newark mayor Cory Booker and one of Mr. Booker's advisers, Ms. Sandberg asked for a breakdown on operating expenses for the fundraising, and details on community outreach efforts. In another email, a Facebook communications employee says he reworked a press release announcing the gift at Ms. Sandberg's encouragement.

Talk about micro-managing! Some things, it seems, are best left to the grownups.

If you thought the buzzy Tupac hologram was awesome, wait until you hear what the Port Authority plans to spend its money on: Starting this summer, three holographic customer service reps will begin work at JFK, Laguardia and Newark, supplementing the flesh-and-blood reps that are often overwhelmed by the magnitude of travelers that visit New York during the summer.

According to the Wall Street Journal:

She smiles, answers questions and can guide you to the nearest rest room or to your connecting flight. But don't try and shake her hand. That's because "she" is an avatar, the latest high-tech venture at New York's three major airports. [Laguardia and Newark], along with JFK Airport, will be the first airports in North America to get an avatar this summer.

The devices apparently cost about $250,000 each, but the Journal says the Port Authority is spending $180,000 to rent them for six months.

In our experience, we've come to expect a certain level of disdain from our JFK customer service reps. We only hope this hologram can also pretend not to hear you, and accurately portray that "fuck off" facial expression we've come to know and love.
