NBC, a public access channel for the city of Boise, really wants you to watch its new show called The Blacklist. So, they’re going where the kids are, posting what is one of the first-ever television show teaser trailers on Vine.

Does a platform based on creating six-second clips accurately portray an hour-long show full of explosions, dangerous traffic situations, and James Spader in a suit? No, because regardless of how little you see of this show’s trailer, it looks like everything else on TV that isn't Veep: terrible. Still, NBC gets social media.

This is Hollywood's latest from to harness whatever promotional power a six second video clip can offer. In March, 20th Century Fox released a teaser trailer for Hugh Jackman rom-com The Wolverine.

Perhaps in the future, all of NBC's shows should just be six seconds long.

Earlier today, NBC's website was hacked. The site returned to normal for a few minutes, but now even the homepage is having problems. This afternoon, users who clicked on the "Shows" or "Full Episodes" tab were shown a black page with glowing lights, loud music, and references to Guy Fawkes Night, which is celebrated on November 5th.  NBC's mobile landing site, Saturday Night Live page, 30 Rock clips, and NBC Sports Rotoworld were also hacked.

Despite the Fawkes reference, Anonymous has not yet taken credit for the hack. A message on the site said "Hacked by pyknic." It's also unclear why NBC was a target. Not a Louis C.K. fan, perhaps?

The defaced page claimed that user info was exposed and passwords were dumped. We've reached out to NBC for comment and will update you as soon as we learn more.

UPDATE 2.30 p.m: The hacker "pyknic" has also taken down the Lady Gaga fansite: GagaDaily.com.

UPDATE 6 p.m.: An NBC representative says the site has been almost entirely restored.

Mr. Mars

If you went to Hulu or NBC.com this morning to catch up on this weekend's Saturday Night Live--the highest-rated episode of the season--you could find Bruno Mars as a sad mouse mascot, Bruno Mars as a 17-year-old dropout in drag, Bruno Mars doing a monologue, and even Bruno Mars singing his own songs. The one clip you couldn't find is Bruno Mars playing a very versatile Pandora intern--one of the better-rated sketches from the evening.

"The very, very obvious culprit here are music licenses, which are almost always the culprit behind missing SNL sketches," reports AllThingsD. 

In the course of seven minutes, Mars belts out pieces of songs from Katy Perry, Green Day, Aerosmith and  Michael Jackson. And if the show doesn’t have the digital rights to a single piece of a single song, the whole thing goes black on the Web, legally speaking.

But NBC's loss is Dan Abrams gain, notes ATD. A video aggregator called GossipCop, which is part of the Mediaite empire, is hosting the video with an option to embed. We imagine NBC hasn't asked GossipCop to take it down yet because what  better way to communicate to the music industry that its policies aren't working than watching digital revenues get siphoned off by a legal analyst?

A newly news-centric MSN.com will roll out with the official launch of Windows 8 on October 26. The software giant's Bob Visse says things are amicable with the ex partner in reportage, but Microsoft really needed to do Microsoft:

"We still have a relationship with MSNBC, but we're going to have our own news product called MSN News," Bob Visse, general manager of product management at MSN, said in an interview with Mashable.

Coverage will be 24/7 and will come out of Microsoft's home base in Redmond, WA. Articles will be brief and combined with newswire reports. Mr. Visse also told Mashable that Microsoft's news staff will be as large as the staff that once ran MSNBC.com.

Considering the nearly half-billion visitors surfing MSN.com monthly, the new operation won't have trouble sustaining itself, which is great because it's like no one is really covering news anymore.

This Olympics flap just got a little more embarrassing for Twitter.

For those just tuning in: Yesterday, after tweeting numerous complaints about the quality of NBC's coverage of the London Olympics, journalist Guy Adams was suspended from Twitter. The official reason given? Mr. Adams had revealed the email of an NBC exec and that it was a terms of service violation to publish "the private and confidential information of others." So once NBC complained, Twitter suspended his account.

That narrative looked a little suspect in light of the big, splashy partnership Twitter and NBC formed to integrate 140-character updates into the media monolith's broadcasts from London.

But a new twist reflects poorly on Twitter. The Telegraph reports that, in an email,

“Our social media dept was actually alerted to it by Twitter and then we filled out the form and submitted it,” he wrote.

“We filed a complaint with Twitter because a user tweeted the personal information of one of our executives. According to Twitter, this is a violation of their privacy policy. Twitter alone levies discipline.”

But now that we're taking another look at that statement, well, it doesn't exactly say that NBC found the offending tweet, now does it?

Twitter recently earned a lot of good will for its refusal to cooperate with the prosecution of an Occupy Wall Street protestor, instead fighting law enforcement requests for user information. However, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't cost the company that much to stand up to the DA's office. But letting a major media partner be embarrassed, in the middle of a high-profile event where NBC has integrated Twitter into much of its on-air coverage? Now, that's a different story.

We've reached out to Twitter for comment and will update if we hear more.

UPDATED: Mr. Adams' account has been reinstated. He says (on Twitter) that he's just received an email stating, "we have just received an update from the complainant retracting their original request..."

UPDATED II: The Wall Street Journal's Christopher Stewart has NBC's statement (in two parts) on the rescinding of their complaint: “Our interest was in protecting our executive, not suspending the user from Twitter...We didn’t initially understand the repercussions of our complaint, but now that we do, we have rescinded it.”

We're not sure who did the pushing or the jumping or what, but somehow everyone ended up under the bus on this one.

It's not always sunny in Legoland, guys. NBC Bay Area reports that Thomas Langenbach, a VP at ERP software company SAP Labs in Palo Alto, has been arrested for stealing LEGOs. Mr. Langenbach, who likes to go by "Lord LEGOs" (okay, not really), used his computer expertise to create new bar codes, which he stuck overtop of regular Target bar codes in order to purchase LEGOs at reduced prices.

Target caught Mr. Langenbach on camera switching the tickets, because the store keeps close track of LEGO sales even though it's no longer the '90s.

"LEGOs are very popular and expensive," a police spokesperson assured NBC.

Mr. Langenbach is a multimillionaire, so it's not like he's some poor tragic figure who really just wanted to build a LEGO castle for his son's birthday. Some just do it for the thrill, we suppose.

SAP makes enterprise software used by big retailers like FreshDirect. Perhaps Target runs SAP software, and that's what made it so easy for Mr. Langenbach to print out new bar codes? Judging from this jobs page, the company definitely use SAP in at least some of its stores. And oh look, here's a handy guide from SAP on how to print bar codes.

No word yet on how the programmer LEGO minifigure feels about all this.

We thought that with the birth of her baby and her new company RtoZ Media, famous Facebook sibling Randi Zuckerberg was busy enough--but apparently we thought wrong. In a press release today, Bravo announced a list of new shows, including one produced by Ms. Zuckerberg with the working title Silicon Valley.

Ms. Zuckerberg's show is part of Bravo's attempt to better position itself as an innovative channel dedicated to digitally savvy, breakthrough programming. According to the release, the show will put startup kids striving for tech success in the spotlight. "Teaming up with internet entrepreneur Randi Zuckerberg, Bravo captures the intertwining lives of young professionals on the path to becoming Silicon Valley’s next great success stories," it reads.

The new lineup also includes a show called "Huh?," which will follow the innerworkings of Ben Huh and his staff at icanhascheezburger, because Bravo exists in a time fissure where it's still 2006.

Bravo's shows aren't exactly highbrow, but they definitely occupy a specific part of our cultural zeitgeist that we liken to a car crash you can't look away from. Will Ms. Zuckerberg's show be a professional high speed collision, or will her executive producer role allow her to have more control over the image the show projects?

Part of us hopes Silicon Valley will be like the short-lived NYC Prep meets Real Housewives, with lots of backstabbing and gossiping and crying over text messages. "Tom said that Cory told him that Mark said my company will never be as good as his!" How juicy would that be?
