Banks, according to <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/29/nyregion/metrocards-phaseout-postponed.html?partner=socialflow&amp;smid=tw-nytmetro">one transit official</a>, who told <em>The New York Times </em>yesterday that lack of distribution of NFC-enabled cards means that the MetroCard won't go completely out of service until 2019:</p>
