All The Startup Ladies
Hey Pretty Lady
A cofounder of Gilt is leaving her company to become president and CEO of GLAMSQUAD.
Alexandra Wilkis Wilson is moving from the retail company she cofounded to head up the on-demand beauty service app, which currently offers hair and makeup service in the comfort of your own apartment. She served as strategic advisor and cofounder at Gilt, according to a release.
Delivery From Inconvenience
When it comes to home beauty apps, the race is officially on.
Just a few hours ago, we published our review of TheStylisted, which sends stylists straight to your home, anywhere in Chicago or New York City, to deliver blow-out, updo, dry hairstyling or makeup services.
And now, effective this afternoon, the beloved on-demand blow-dry/updo app GLAMSQUAD has announced that they, too, are offering makeup services. Guess they weren’t too excited about the competition’s June 22 app launch.
Sometime last week, one of my much-more-fashionable-than-me coworkers told me there was a new beauty app causing a stir at Fashion Week.
The app was GLAMSQUAD, a service that lets you order professional hair stylists to your home to perform blowouts, updos and cool braids that you could never possibly do by yourself — or without trekking through an Arctic wasteland to your nearest blow-dry bar.
