Gary McKinnon

U.K. Home Secretary Theresa May has put a stop to efforts to extradite computer hacker Gary McKinnon. Mr. McKinnon, age 46, allegedly hacked into multiple United States military computer networks between February 2001 and March 2002.

Mr. McKinnon, who is on the autism spectrum, later claimed he was seeking evidence related to UFO sightings as well as signs of a conspiracy to conceal advancements in "free energy."

For his impressive efforts in search of the truth according to the X-Files, Mr. McKinnon was in danger of spending the rest of his natural life in an American penitentiary. The Home Secretary defended blocking the hacker's extradition by saying he was "seriously ill."

The BBC reports that Mark Lever, who heads the United Kingdom's National Autistic Society (NAS), expressed delight over the resolution of the case, saying, "People with Asperger syndrome can be vulnerable and the NAS argued long and hard for the home secretary to take Gary's condition and its associated challenges into account when making this decision."
