The Rich Are Different
Quick: what do you think is the top adult entertainment brand in the world? Playboy? Hustler? PornHub? Turns out, it’s none of the above. That throne belongs to Jasmin.com, a lesser-known camming site that has grown to pull in nearly a million dollars in revenue every day.
That little known fact could remain a secret as long as major cable networks have anything to say about it. Jasmin.com has been denied from running a relatively tame advertisement during the upcoming Emmy Awards. Megan Morahan of NBC Universal’s ad sales team told them:
I ran your spot by our standards group, and unfortunately we cannot accept advertising for Jasmin.com.
Sign of the Times
Four years after the demise of Bravo’s NYC Prep, we still haven’t found the perfect replacement show about over-entitled rich kids behaving badly. But wipe those Dom Perignon-tinged tears off your face because E! is developing a show called Rich Kids of Beverley Hills, which sounds similar to the Rich Kids of Instagram Tumblr.
Randi Zuckerberg isn’t the only enterprising producer trying to bring Startupland to the small screen. Over the weekend, Deadline Hollywood reported that Kevin Spacey will be executive producing a new drama on E! Entertainment Television called “Upstarts” about “Silicon Valley’s digital gold rush.” Michael De Luca, the Oscar-nominated executive producer behind The Social Network will also be executive producing the show. Considering that film was Patient Zero for startup fever, we expect a similar outbreak from the TV version.
