Lala Land When you plunk down $18 million in hard-won settlement earnings on an 8,000 sq. ft. manse with "a jetliner view of L.A." you don't just around on the couch watching Bravo. Especially not if your names are Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.

The strapping venture capitalists recently hosted two parties at their new Hollywood Hills home. The first was feting Katie Finnegan and Erica Bell, cofounders of the fashion startup Hukkster, which recently scored a $1 million seed round from the duo. Guests included actor Jason Lewis (Samatha's boyfriend to the rest of us). 

They followed that up with a fundraiser for Los Angeles mayoral candidate Eric Garcetti, a Democrat. According to LA Weekly, Mr. Garcetti is, "the candidate who pulls out his iPhone and brags that he 'has an app for that.'" Something tell us Silicon Beach found its new mascots.

Movin' on up Looks like fledging startup Branch is taking a flying leap from its betaworks nest. Founder Josh Miller took to Instagram to share the following picture of the company's spacious new digs. The new office is on 23rd Street and 3rd Avenue, and though it will technically be the Branch office, employees of Ev Williams' new startup Medium will also work out of it. "Say hi!" tweeted Mr. Miller. "We have extra desks for creative engs, designers, & writers."

Anti-Social Media  Mixel cofounder and former NYTimes.com design director Khoi Vinh has 295,000 some Twitter followers and plenty of clout/Klout. Startups take note: this is not how you want him to tweet about your company. 

Disrupt litter The employees at Square--who apparently refer to themselves as "Squares," because that's the kind of place Silicon Valley is--gave their neighbors a little holiday present earlier this week. Jack Dorsey reported on Twitter that 30 people spent 30 minutes collecting trash around their office. "Over 300 pounds cleaned up," he added proudly.

Your own dog food Speaking of filters: While doing a little casual perusing of Instagram's relatively new web profiles, we noticed something interesting: It appears that in the month of December, Kevin Systrom has posted exactly one photo (a snapshot from Paris) to the service he founded.

Holidays, Google Style Say what you will about GOOG, but the company knows how to throw a swanky ass party. This year's New York holiday party was a carnival-themed soiree at the Waldorf Astoria, and featured glow in the dark games like Pacman and foosball 3D glasses as party favors. "Google knows how to throw down, wrote one attendee. "Masquerade masks, ridiculous decor, & epic food/booze selection."

Tyler Winklevoss (cnbc.com)

The hosts of CNBC's "Squawk Box" could barely contain their glee over the fact that litigious twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss agreed to appear on their show this morning. "I need an autograph... for my daughter!" squee'd one of the show's hosts. Right.

The Winklevi appeared in a segment called "The Disruptors" that highlights some of tech's biggest heavy-hitters. Apparently the duo are now running a VC firm aptly titled Winklevoss Capital. When reached via email, Cameron Winklevoss confirmed to Betabeat that it's the first time the two have officially announced the company.

Despite the excitement of the hosts, the segment revealed little about what companies the Winklevi are going to be investing in. The twins do seem to have the lingo down pat, though.

"We're closing a couple deals hopefully within this month, so it's a little premature to disclose what they are. But we focus on early-stage, disruptive startups," said Tyler, J. Crew-handsome Twin #1.

"We're kind of just looking at investments as they come," said Cameron, starch-collared Twin #2. "We're looking for companies that are early-stage where we can add both capital and operational experience and make an impact and work with entrepreneurs and build their team where we can sort of add value."

When one of the show's hosts asked the Winklevi to address why their firm might be overlooked given their background and negative portrayal in The Social Network, Tyler didn't do his budding VC firm any favors: "We do have the experience. We were there at the beginning of the web 2.0."

Given the influx of celebrity VCs these days, it's unsurprising to see the Winklevi jump on the bandwagon--they do have more experience than Ashton Kutcher.

Your topics list can also be edited and impacted by friends who give you +K's, or recommendations, on certain topics. But occasionally Klout unearths a bizarre couple of topics that leave you wondering just how much you talk about things like bacon (we're looking at you, David Karp).

We think it's sweet that Foursquare cofounder Dennis Crowley is influential about moms. Who doesn't like a guy who tweets about his mother?

Cameron Winklevoss

One half of the imitable Winklevi duo, Cameron Winklevoss apparently has a lot to say on Twitter about 80s heartthrob John Cusack.

Nick Denton

Mr. Denton, self-proclaimed "gossip merchant" and overlord of the Gawker Media empire, is influential about trauma, which we suppose makes sense considering the rigorous workload he expects from his staff.

@Betaworks

Company Twitter accounts can also have their own Klout scores. Startup non-incubator Betaworks, for example, is influential about cookies...and drag queens.

@Tumblr

Angsty tweens and fashion porn were oddly not under Tumblr's popular topics. Luckily, knives and Kid Cudi were.

Mayor Bloomberg

Last but not least, we have our very own Mayor, @MikeBloomberg. He is apparently influential about both fascism and bullying, though we have to guess that Occupy Wall Streeters may have had something to do with that.

And just for good measure, did you know that Betabeat is influential about cosmetics? Yes, this tech blog is one of the few run entirely by ladies, but we never tweet about our makeup routine. What gives, Klout?

UPDATE:

Klout wrote in to tell us that the Klout profile for Mark Zuckerberg, listed in the original edition of this piece, is unfortunately fake. His real profile is here, with nary a Justin Bieber reference in sight. The real Zuck is in fact influential about money and celebrities, though his low influence on privacy still remains true.

What not to wear.

Former Harvard University president Larry Summers gave the audience at Fortune's Brainstorm Tech conference the real back story on a familiar scene from The Social Network. In Aaron Sorkin's version of events, Mr. Summers couldn't be bothered with Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss' attempt to halt Mark Zuckerberg's world domination with Harvard's code of conduct. But what Mr. Summers was really thinking may have been worse. "Rarely, have I encountered such swagger, and I tried to respond in kind," he told the crowd, adding:

"One of the things you learn as a college president is that if an undergraduate is wearing a tie and jacket on Thursday afternoon at three o'clock, there are two possibilities. One is that they're looking for a job and have an interview; the other is that they are an asshole. This was the latter case."

Another reason to keep the start-up dress code "business shabby."
