Facebook is Down, Let’s Try To Enjoy It

Vine still exists? Right. You'll have to use that instead for the next few minutes...

Facebook is down, everyone. We repeat: Facebook is down. If you visit Facebook.com now, you simply get a message saying:

Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.

To which we say: take your time, Facebook team. This is a great opportunity for the rest of us to get things done, enjoy the last fleeting moments of great weather, check some emails, write to a loved one, go biking, enjoy a fresh picnic, or simply make a quick call to a parent or sibling to say how much we appreciate their presence in our lives. After all, last time Facebook was down about a month ago, it turns out it didn’t have a meaningful effect.

But what are we saying — you’ll probably just use this time to catch up on Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter and your pile of unviewed snaps.

If you want to join in on the mass panic, check out the #FacebookDown hashtag on Twitter to watch the complete societal meltdown commence.

Update: It’s back. You may now commence arguing with your racist uncle in a comments section, hating engagement photos, and other activities that pass for “social.”
