#myNYPD Backfires As Twitter Users Share Photos of Police Brutality

This definitely didn't go as planned.

Following in the successful footprints of #McDStories and #ILoveWalgreens, the New York Police Department created a hashtag to commemorate our love for New York’s finest:

That’s when things went horribly wrong. The Twitter community has been running with #MyNYPD for the past few hours, taking the liberty to share their own endearing photos:

Some are using the #MyNYPD hashtag to share their less-than-flattering personal stories:

No one so far has responded for comment from the department, so we wonder if they even know what’s hit them yet — a few contributions like this one sum up the situation perfectly:

Someone has a very nasty surprise coming when they open Hootsuite.

    So that was a bit of a PR disaster for NYPD.. never mind what Commissioner Bratton has said about positive reinforcement of the engagement. There’s no way to spin #myNYPD as a good outcome for either the police force or the city of New York..
