"HBO tapped me for a real-life-meets-art cameo in a later episode, as a well-known, obnoxious tech reporter."

Tech and entertainment junkies alike are practically frothing at the mouths over the premier of Silicon Valley, which debuts at South by Southwest today — and it turns out the show will have some Easter eggs in store for tech types.

Co-creator Mike Judge said the new show will be the anti-Entourage, which could be good or bad (but definitely not as bad as Betas, sry Amazon) on Friday during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Mr. Judge also revealed that the revered tech journalist Kara Swisher will do a cameo on the show. Said Mr. Judge:

“We visited startups; we talked to a lot of venture capitalists and people who run incubators. We brought Jonathan Dotan on board as our master tech consultant. He’s of that world, and he got people like Kara Swisher [to do cameos].”

Ms. Swisher also wrote about the upcoming cameo on her site, Re/code. She admitted that “completely ridonkulous” Silicon Valley types such as herself are ripe for “some quality mockery.”

She mused that Silicon Valley‘s plot summary might sound like a reality show to tech industry stalwarts such as herself, “which is why HBO tapped me for a real-life-meets-art cameo in a later episode, as a well-known, obnoxious tech reporter named Kara Swisher of Re/code,” she wrote.

We at Betabeat will be thrilled if the tech-reporters-as-actors thing becomes a trend. We’re ready for our close-up, Mr. Judge.
