Goooood Morning Silicon Alley!

Best Tech Events This Week (New Year’s Eve Parties & more)

sponsor garys red tie Best Tech Events This Week (New Years Eve Parties & more)This is a guest post from Gary Sharma (aka “The Guy with the Red Tie”), founder and CEO of GarysGuide and proud owner of a whole bunch of black suits, white shirts and, at last count, over 40 red ties. You can reach him at gary [at] garysguide.com.

Paul Graham’s recent remarks landed him in hot water. My two cents … Last week Chicago made Computer Science core curriculum in all public high schools & it’ll be first urban district with computer courses for kindergarten to 8th grade. I hope NYC is next! Other programs – Girls Who Code, Black Girls Code, AFSE. Kids coding early is great. I was lucky & got my start at age 11. Having said that, starting / funding a company shouldn’t be about when u started coding (or ur race, gender, nationality). Tech is a meritocracy. Lets keep it that way.
