We’ve all been there: You simply must get to the Hamptons for the Fourth, but my God, the traffic. (Let’s not even deign to discuss the LIRR.) Surely there’s some way to rise above such mundane stresses?
Well, good news for anyone who isn’t quite in the position to keep a helicopter pilot on retainer. New York reports that Wednesday, for one day only, UberCHOPPER will shuttle you to a helipad and out to the Hamptons for a mere $3,000.
The stunt conveniently coincides with the company’s launch of service within the East End, which’ll run this week through Labor Day (before presumably moving on to Gstaad or something).
“This is an experiment extending our logistics fabric to new modes of transportation – and it helps spread the word that Uber is available in the East End this summer,” Uber NYC’s Josh Mohrer told Betabeat over email. “We’ll be looking closely at how UberCHOPPER goes,” he added.
Hopefully that means it’s only a matter of time before we can expect Uber for yachts, because I think we all know that’s where this is going.
