Because they don’t already have enough problems on their plate, the people of Palestine have shifted their focus to a real global menace: Internet porn. Several university students are working to block access to XXX sites, because they think everyone’s obsession with it causes divorce and harms people’s lives.

The Palestinian territories are the sixth largest in terms of porno perusers, which is causing quite the clash with strict customs and traditions. Nader Abu Farhah, the campaign’s organizer, lambasted porn as conjuring up “fatal psychological and mental dangers.”

And, according to “sources” in the Palestinan government, porn is one of the leading reasons for divorce because one partner (the husband, let’s be honest) have been caught browsing it. The government apparently can cut off access to Internet porn in one fell swoop without consultation from the Israelis and protestors warn they will take to the streets if their demands aren’t met.

XBiz writes:

“This needs a ministerial decision only and then it will be implemented instantly. Even companies that provide the Internet in Palestine can block the porn sites without referring to the ministry. The only hindrance is that companies which block the porn sties lose market share,” the PNA sources said.

We’re not really sure cutting off someone’s release for all that pent-up energy is going to be the solution over there, you guys.
