sponsor garys red tie Best Tech Events This Week (PayPal BattleHack, ATT Hackathon, Social Retail Summit, Startup Grind)This is a guest post from Gary Sharma (aka “The Guy with the Red Tie”), founder and CEO of GarysGuide and proud owner of a whole bunch of black suits, white shirts and, at last count, over 40 red ties. You can reach him at gary [at] garysguide.com.

Its summertime! And instead of eating out at the same ol’ joints, I want to try out some new places. So send me your restaurant recommendations (and maybe mention what you liked about them and which dishes I should try). Email me at gary@garysguide.com. Thanks! I really appreciate it.

Congrats to Maria Gotsch and team on the amazing Fintech Innovation Lab, an annual program run by the Partnership Fund for NYC and Accenture. And congrats to all the graduating startups at Demo Day last week – Dashlane, OpenFin, Centripetal Networks, NarrativeScience, Inktank and Scrollmotion. Many of the major banks had worked closely with the startups, mentoring them, providing access to their systems and implementing pilot projects. Chatting with CapitalOne CTO Monique Shivanandan, it was clear that the program was a win-win on all sides! Would love to see this replicated across other industry verticals.

My friend Tina is the founder of Bronx-based Exposure Camp which helps bridge the digital divide for teens in underserved communities. Upcoming programs include Digital Design Incubator (July 15 – Aug 2), Teen Tech Bash (4th fridays) and Athletech Camp.

And for kids with special needs, Tech Kids Unlimited organizes a bunch of tech workshops focused on programming, apps, games and more!

I’m an opera newbie but looking forward to the Metropolitan Opera Summer Series tomorrow in Central Park! :) Arias and duets by up-and-coming Met artists Ying Fang (soprano), Mario Chang (tenor) and Brandon Cedel (bass-baritone).
