The latest milestone in Tumblr’s ongoing quest for profitability: Today the company expanded its inclusion of ads within the Dashboard’s stream of posts from mobile to web.

A post on the staff blog bragged: “Since we launched our first sponsored post on Tumblr Radar one year ago, we’ve been proud to see our partners bring their most creative work to Tumblr.” Apparently their posts have garnered 10 million likes and reblogs. Metrics!

By the way, guess which super high-end brand was chosen to show off the potential of this latest revenue-generating product: Denny’s, the diner you turn to out of desperation when you’re two states or more away from a Waffle House. (Just saying.)

The community is reacting with characteristic maturity:

And my personal favorite, a cry that’s also a really good question: “wtf? Who the hell is liking and reblogging the ads? Seriously come on!” Seriously, come on.
