Is This the Most Desperate Recruiting Ploy in the History of Silicon Valley?

Could The Internship–an upcoming comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as two older gents who attempt to land a Google gig–actually be a secret ploy by Google to attract new employees? That’s what we’re wondering after catching the trailer that just dropped on YouTube. At one point, Owen Wilson says, “We’re looking at some sort of mental Hunger Games against a bunch of genius kids for just a handful of jobs.” With all the competition for talent, we’re pretty sure Google’s the one that feels like Katniss, but okay.

We know Google cooperated with the filmmakers, and the snippets we can see in the trailer make the Silicon Valley mothership look practically like a playground. Who wouldn’t want to fire off a resume?
