Did you stay at work a little late to do a bit of frantic blizzard-related research and/or dicking around on the Internet? If so, you probably experienced an unexpected, disorienting game of Internet Shoots and Ladders, as several major websites–including Buzzfeed, Gawker, and Slate–suddenly began redirecting to a strange error page on Facebook.
Luckily, logging out of Facebook solved the problem. Duh.
The glitch persisted for about 20 minutes, but it’s since been fixed. Facebook has provided us with a statement:
For a short period of time, there was a bug that redirected people logging in with Facebook from third party sites to Facebook.com. The issue was quickly resolved, and Login with Facebook is now working as usual.
But who will soothe the terrifying memory of those moments when our every attempt to flee from Facebook just dragged us back into the social network, like some sort of modern Twilight Zone episode? RIDDLE ME THAT, FACEBOOK SPOKESPERSON.
