One way to get attention for your product launch: Free porn.

Except, it's probably not what Apple had in mind when it launched iTunes in Russia and 55 other countries yesterday, only to see the section for TV shows and movies bombarded with ads for porn sites and escort services.

Worse, under a section for "more films in different languages," iTunes displayed actual pornographic content.    According to 9to5Mac, speculation is that the porn bomb was detonated when programmers forgot to remove placeholder links labeled xx.xx.xx—which is both one way to remind yourself to fill in actual data, and a working URL.

Which, given Apple's aversion to all things porn, might be the last time you see the words "date a pornstar escort" in iTunes.

This wouldn't have happened if Steve Jobs was still around.
