Anonymous is currently executing a distributed denial of service attack (DDOS) on the website of the Westboro Baptist Church, GodHatesFags.com. The website is currently inaccessible.
The hacktivist collective launched an operation against the notorious hate group after Westboro announced that they will picket the funerals of victims of Friday’s devastating school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. An Anonymous source told Beteabeat that they intend to continue the DDOS attack throughout the day; he also said that the group plans to gain control of the website and deface it.
“We will continuously DDOS until they are forced to put their inbred church tithes to use to pay for bandwidth,” KY Anonymous told Betabeat in a statement.
“The message is simple: Dont fuck with little kids. Especially their funerals,” added @YourAnonNews, one of Anonymous’ most-followed Twitter account.
Earlier today the Twitter account of Westboro spokesperson Shirley Phelps-Roper was hacked, allegedly by the 15-year-old hacker Cosmo. Betabeat has yet to confirm whether Cosmo is behind the attack, or if another hacker is falsely attributing it to him.
Anonymous has published a list of the 19 domains owned by Westboro that they’ve taken down.
