Time for a new suit? Need a new phone? Well, do we have an offer for you!

As Business Insider points out, menswear retailer Jos. A. Bank Clothiers has a penchant for promotions, usually involving heavy discounts or the good old buy one, get one, sometimes even the mythical seven-for-one deal. That latter may be madness, but it follows a certain logic: If you’re the type of person who needs one suit, you could probably use two … or seven.  But a new promotion from the retailer, ahem, clothier demonstrates a whole other level of marketing creativity:  through the end of the year, Jos. A Bank is offering a new Android phone gratis with the purchase of a a new suit.

The phone, per the fine print, comes with the requirement of a new two-year contract (some renewals/upgrades may be acceptable), is not valid with business accounts and not available to persons under the age of 18—which makes us wonder how many are actually on the market for a new suit and a new smartphone contract. But who knows! And at any rate, we can all appreciate the retailer’s willingness to take the “get-one-free” contract to an unnatural conclusion.
