Now that Marissa Mayer has the reigns well in hand, there’s little place left for former interim CEO Ross Levinsohn. Though once the heir presumptive to Yahoo’s battered throne, he was passed over for Ms. Mayer, becoming the media guy in a company turning in a product-focused direction. So we weren’t exactly surprised that to see All Things D report that Mr. Levinsohn is sidling gracefully in the direction of the exit.
But before keyboard cat plays him entirely off the stage, we’ve got a few suggestions for music to accompany his departure for what we can only assume will be greener pastures.
.) “The 7 Things I Hate About You,” by Miley Cyrus. Turn it up to 10 and rip off the knob.
.) Marissa Mayer’s semi-crazed giggle on loop. Now that’s what we call motivation.
.) “I Will Survive,” by Gloria Gaynor. Stay strong, Ross.
.) “The Lonely Man,” better known as the “Sad Hulk Walking Away Music.” Sometimes you just need a good cry.
.) “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye,” by Boyz II Men. Be prepared: This is the nadir.
.) “Closing Time,” by Semisonic. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end, that’s what we always say.
.) “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” by Oasis. Do as the Gallagher Brothers sing, not as they do.
.) “Float On,” by Modest Mouse. Whatever, you know? Just whatever, man.
.) “Here Comes the Sun,” by the Beatles. Wipe a tear from your eye, then chuckle as the realization hits: You don’t have to deal with Yahoo anymore! Welcome back to the land of the living.
