You know the old adage, "With great power comes great responsibility?" Well, to quote a storied tech reporter, "Hahahahhaha lol," apparently that doesn't apply to Facebook. Fuck responsibility, y'all!

On Friday, Facebook changed the email address for all users from whatever they had listed to a mysterious @facebook.com email address. Since this reporter never selected a Facebook email address, that meant that ours appeared as a string of random numbers @facebook.com, which wasn't going to be very helpful if anyone wanted to contacted us. "The only way to kill Gmail is to mess with everyone's contact info!" said someone at Facebook, apparently.

Luckily, Lifehacker posted four easy steps for changing it back to your original address:

1. Click "About" on your profile and scroll down to your email address. Click "Edit" to change them.
2. Click on the circle next to your Facebook email address and change its setting to "Hidden From Timeline".
3. Click on the circle next to your other email addresses and change their settings to "Shown On Timeline".
4. Click the Save button at the bottom of the Edit popup (Don't forget this step).

Unsurprisingly, people are not too happy with Facebook's little security misstep. No one likes a reminder of how much power Facebook has over your data, especially on a rainy Monday morning.

Might we suggest revisiting your privacy settings, just to reinvoke that faint sense of security?
