Priscilla Chan, a graduate of Harvard University and UCSF Medical School, married Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in an intimate ceremony at the couple’s Palo Alto, CA home on Saturday, May 19th.
Ms. Chan, 27, looked radiant in an ethereal Claire Pettibone gown with a lace-detailed neckline. Mr. Zuckerberg, 28, eschewed his trademark hooded sweatshirt for a clean dark blue suit.
It has been a whirlwind week for the couple, who have shared a life since their collegiate days at Harvard University, where Ms. Chan studied biology and Mr. Zuckerberg computer science. Ms. Chan graduated from UCSF Medical school with a doctoral degree in medicine at the beginning of last week; Mr. Zuckerberg took his wildly popular website, Facebook, public on Friday, and is estimated to have made billions of dollars from the deal.
Ms. Chan grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts before attending Harvard in 2003. Prior to medical school, she taught at the Harker School in San Jose.
Mr. Zuckerberg hails from Dobbs Ferry, New York, and founded social networking site Facebook while a student at Harvard. One day before the couple’s nuptials, he ushered in the biggest tech IPO in history.
Saturday’s ceremony was a surprise to the 100 or so guests who had gathered in Palo Alto, believing they were there to celebrate Ms. Chan’s medical school graduation. Guests munched on sushi from the couple’s favorite Palo Alto Japanese restaurant.
They have been together for nine years.
