Global research firm IDC released a report this week estimating that cloud computing is expected to bring an impressive 60,000 jobs to New York this year. Coming in at second place was Los Angeles with 38,000 "cloud-related jobs" in 2012, reports Workforce.com. That makes New York City the biggest beneficiary of of that great storage locker in the sky.

When the technology was initially embraced, conventional wisdom was that cloud computing would kill jobs, not create them. But the study estimates that by 2015, New York will have a net gain of 99,000 cloud jobs (clo-jays?).

As for what constitutes a cloud-related job, the definition is a little broad:

"The study looked at a broad range of cloud computing services, which include the use of third-party servers to store data and the delivery of information technology services to a company by an outside provider."

So somewhere between me paying someone to set up my iCloud and your server provider?
