Mr. Bloomberg.
Michael Bloomberg wants to be New York’s first digital mayor, but all this negging on Twitter is really getting to him. “Social media is going to make it even more difficult to make long-term investments” in cities, the mayor said during a speech in Sinagpore yesterday, reports the New York Times. ”We are basically having a referendum on every single thing that we do every day.”
Perhaps the mayor is referring to his shadow, @ElBloombito, which gently rags on the mayor for his gringo Spanish. Or perhaps he’s referring to the foul-mouthed smokers who berate him for his stance on tobacco.
@MikeBloomberg Can we start with the potholes first, then work our way up to tobacco?

@MikeBloomberg Shut up. We know smoking is bad. Are you planning on annoying people into quitting?

@MikeBloomberg It’s a legal product, I’m of legal age, stay out of my business. More ‘nanny state’ governmet meddling.

Or maybe he’s just sick of things like this:
Fascist billionaire @MikeBloomberg unleashes his own army on American citizens, women thrown to the ground & beaten #impeachbloomberg

Relax, Bloomie: we all have trolls. And those tweets sure come in handy when it comes time to prosecute your detractors. The mayor’s remarks come at a time when the city is slogging through the prosecutions of hundreds of Occupy Wall Street protesters who were arrested marching over the Brooklyn Bridge on a Saturday back in September; the city has subpoenaed four Twitter accounts to help prove its case.
