Chelsea has become quite the tech hub, it would seem. Yesterday police raided an apartment on West 28th St. and found 500 iPhones and iPods, 19 fake iPads and 4,200 pairs of Beats by Dre headphones worth almost $1 million. The cache was just 14 blocks south north of Google's massive headquarters at 111 Eighth Ave.

"Officers began staking out the building on West 28th Street near Seventh Avenue after an arrest last month when they saw a man leave the building with a fake iPhone that he later tried to sell on a Hell’s Kitchen street corner," reports the New York Post. "Mo Ling, 36, and Cindy Lie, 25, were charged with trademark counterfeiting."

The pair now join the ranks of Fei "White iPhone 4 Kid" Lam and Flushing's Apple Story and Fun Zone. Such crackdowns are driving up the price of fake Apple goods while the price of real Apple goods falls, resulting in a knockoffs crunch.

Hopefully, Google employees haven't been buying their electronics locally (are they allowed to have iPhones?).
