LINSANITY, Baby!
If you're a die-hard New York sports fan like me, you have probably been pinching yourself at whats been transpiring the last 10 days. First the Giants win the SuperBowl against the Patriots in another amazing one-for-the-ages game. And now, the Knicks have won 5 in a row on the shoulders of an unlikely hero, Jeremy Lin. Now, dear reader, as you know, I like to do my part in making sure you hold ur own in any water-cooler / cocktail conversation and this week Linsanity is the topic du jour. So here goes.

This is the story of Jeremy Lin, a 6' 3, Asian American NBA player, Harvard degree in economics, let go first by the Golden State Warriors and then Houston Rockets, just three weeks ago sent to the minor leagues, before returning to be a benchwarmer for the Knicks, sleeping on his brother's couch, finally getting a chance to play for the injury ridden Knicks on Feb 4 and since then has been on a roll scoring career bests 25, 28, 23, 38 and 20 points in his last five NBA games, leading Knicks to a 5 game winning spree, the 38 coming against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers @ MSG on primetime. This is the story of an underdog, of hard work, of not fitting the profile, of being overlooked despite being talented, of relentlessly pursuing the dream, of teamwork, of patience, of humility, of seizing the opportunity when it knocked and ultimately of believing in oneself. (Bonus: here's a fun clip of Lin on how to get into Harvard.)
