Startup News: Incubator Applications Open for Summer

incubator Startup News: Incubator Applications Open for SummerMYSTERY INCUBATOR. An accelerator program you probably haven’t heard of is opening in New Jersey. “We run four three-month funding cycles a year, one from January, April, July and October. We may ask the founders of each startup we fund to move to the Northern NJ Metro Area for the duration of their cycle, during which we work intensively with them to get the company into the best shape possible. We usually $10,000-$100,000 per startup. Occasionally we invest more. The goal is usually to give you enough money to build an impressive prototype or version 1, which you can then use to get further funding. What do we get out of this?  From 2-30% of your stock. Usually 5 or 10%.”

AND. Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly) is now accepting applications for its new DUMBO accelerator.

AND AND ALSO. Applications for the DreamIt NYC summer 2012 program are now open.

OUTTA BETA. “Bubble 1.0 is out of beta! Here’s some of what you can expect to discover: new features, bigger bubbles (interests!), fresh layouts, phrases like ‘adds’ and ‘love’, and lots of discovery.”

INTO BETA. “As a follow up to the Brotherhood of the Beta, we have recently launched an online destination for our startups and early adopters. In just a few weeks, we have seen more than 500 startups and 2,500 early adopters join BetaBait. With so much action, our emails were getting too long! So, we created an online “hot list” of the startups, where our users could more easily browse, contact and share apps they found: http://www.betabait.com/submitted-apps. In addition, our daily email now only includes the freshest startups (submitted in the last 24 hours). Finally, we are still looking for email sponsors and interested parties can learn more here: www.betabait.com/sponsors.”

DIASPORA UPDATE. “Next up in alleviating our growing pains is migrating our database providers… Amazon’s services will allow joindiaspora.com to scale faster, and allowing us to keep up with the pace of the growing demand we’ve been seen on the site.” They’re also looking for developers.

INVITES. Fitocracy appears to be making its way through that hideously long waitlist, finally getting to months-old invite requests.

VIDEOS. Skillshare has a new manifesto video.

HIRING. Betaworks needs an office manager. Meetup needs UI engineers. Voxy needs a front-end engineer.
