Twitter is going crazy!
The U.S. Geological Survey is saying a 5.8 earthquake centered in Virginia.
The Washington post reports the quake was felt in Washington, New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Cleveland. The U.S. Geological Survey said an earthquake of a 5.8 magnitude hit Virginia near the town of Mineral.
First hand reporting: US gelological station says it was 5.9 quake 83 miles south of DC. They normally monitor U.K.
A Reuters witness said the quake was felt as far away as Toronto, Canada.
Jason Kottke reports the VA quake is the strongest to hit the US east coast since 1890s: (1897 5.9 in VA)

I live in downtown manhattan on the 16th floor and I felt the building swaying back and forth and I thought it was me being dizzy i am in a wheelchair but the water in the coffee pot was moving was there an earthquake in manhattant?

We just felt it in Mury Hill, NYC, whole building swayed for a few minutes.

I live in lower Westchester and at 1:53PM my house shook. Apparently there was in earthquake in Virginia area.
