He totally "gets" it.

Today is MTV's 30th birthday, so Betabeat decided to take a look back at how this revolutionary broadcast network covered the innovation, the internet, that would help to kill music television, much as video killed the radio star.

The year was 1995 and a whopping 10 million people regularly used the internet. "What's attracted many of them is the World Wide Web, with its proliferation of special interest truck stops called websites, and the arrival of networked browser programs that make the whole thing, if not idiot proof, at least user friendly."

There are so many great moments in this video it's hard to know where to start:

Billy Corgan is pissed MJ was lip-synching at the MTV awards, but MJ doesn't care cause he is to busy doing a "simulchat" chats with his fans

Kurt Loder, 'nuff said.

David Bennahum, Cyber Journalist, "Of course there's a lot of sex online, welcome to the human race."

Newt Gingrich stands up for free speech and internet porn.

David Bowie on jacking in to the net, "I did it one time, a couple of years ago, but I got so tired of the rubbish that I dropped out again."

Coolio puts it best, "If you ain't on the information superhighway baby, where is you?"
